Heart Disease Prevention
Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, responsible for nearly 1 in every 5 deaths each year, according to the CDC. The American Heart Association reports that major risk factors include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, obesity, physical inactivity, and an unhealthy diet. Many of these risk factors are preventable or manageable, yet they continue to contribute to heart attacks, strokes, and other serious complications.
The good news is that up to 90% of heart disease is preventable through healthy lifestyle changes. Regular physical activity, a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, maintaining a healthy weight, managing stress, and avoiding tobacco can significantly lower your risk. Even small, consistent changes—like adding 30 minutes of brisk walking most days or swapping processed snacks for fresh produce—can have a measurable impact on your heart health.
